Situated in the northwest of Sicily, Demetra is well-place for discovering the wealth of attractions that the area has to offer. The charming hamlet of Scopello, with its authentic old baglio, has a couple of good restaurants, a few bars, a scuba diving club, and a smattering of shops, including a superb delicatessen, wine shop and greengrocers just below. The extremely evocative setting of Scopello’s old tuna plant is a great spot for swimming and snorkelling, as are the nearby pebble beach and lidos of Guidaloca. This latter is walkable (2.5km) from Demetra, but there are no footpaths on the roads. Lo Zingaro Nature Reserve is a 15-minute drive away and offers a range of spectacular walks and some beautiful crystal clear bays for swimming. The nearby town of Castellammare del Golfo has a good selection of seafront bars and restaurants, a daily fish market, plenty of shops and a long sandy beach with lidos. The spectacular Elymian/Greek site of Segesta is about 20 minutes drive away and Erice, Palermo, Trapani and Selinunte can all be reached in under an hour.
Having a breakfast or drinking a cocktail looking towards the Mediterranean Sea is always a magic experience.
